Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs your use of Doclio and forms part of, and is incorporated into, the Terms of Service. It applies to every user of Doclio and to all content you upload, store, generate, transmit, or share through the service — including drawings, documents, photos, attachments, correspondence, comments, forum and blog posts, support tickets, and AI-assistant inputs. Capitalised terms not defined here have the meaning given in the Terms of Service.

1. Prohibited Content

You must not upload, store, generate, transmit, link to, or otherwise make available through Doclio any content that:

• is, depicts, or facilitates child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any sexual content involving minors — this is reported to the relevant authorities without notice;
• is unlawful, or promotes or facilitates illegal activity, including illegal weapons or drug trafficking, fraud, money laundering, or terrorism;
• is pornographic, obscene, or sexually explicit (Doclio is a construction-project workspace and is not intended for adult content);
• harasses, threatens, defames, or incites violence against any person or group, or promotes hatred or discrimination;
• infringes the intellectual-property rights of others, or misappropriates trade secrets or confidential information you have no right to share;
• discloses another person's private or personal information without authorisation ("doxxing");
• contains malware, viruses, or malicious code, or is designed to disrupt, damage, or gain unauthorised access to any system or data;
• you do not have the lawful right to upload, store, or share.

2. Prohibited Conduct

You must not use Doclio to:

• send spam, bulk unsolicited email, or phishing, or otherwise misuse Doclio's email-sending, sharing, invitation, correspondence, or support features to reach people without a legitimate purpose;
• impersonate any person or organisation, or misrepresent your affiliation;
• attempt to gain unauthorised access to any account, project, system, or data; probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the service; or circumvent authentication, rate limits, or usage quotas;
• abuse, overload, or attempt to disrupt the service, including automated scraping or excessive request volume;
• misuse the AI assistant — for example to generate any of the Prohibited Content above, or to attempt to extract other users' data.

3. Enforcement — Content Removal and Account Suspension

We may, at our discretion and to the extent permitted by law, investigate suspected violations and take any action we consider appropriate, including:

• removing, disabling, or restricting access to content;
• suspending or terminating accounts, whether temporarily or permanently;
• preserving relevant records and, where CSAM or a credible threat to life is involved, reporting to law enforcement without prior notice.

We aim to give notice before acting, except where immediate action is necessary to prevent harm, comply with a legal obligation, or protect the safety, rights, or property of Doclio, our users, or the public. Serious violations may result in immediate termination without refund, consistent with the Terms of Service.

4. Reporting Abuse or Illegal Content

If you become aware of any content or activity on Doclio that violates this policy, please report it to abuse@docl.io. Include a link or location, a description of the issue, and (if you are comfortable) your contact details so we can follow up. Reports of CSAM or credible threats to safety are treated as urgent. You may also report a concern through our support form by selecting the appropriate category.

5. Copyright and DMCA Notice-and-Takedown

Doclio respects intellectual-property rights and responds to valid notices of alleged copyright infringement under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and equivalent laws. If you believe content on Doclio infringes your copyright, send a written notice to our designated agent at dmca@docl.io including:

1. your physical or electronic signature;
2. identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed;
3. identification of the material claimed to be infringing, with enough detail (e.g. a link or location) for us to locate it;
4. your contact information (name, address, email, phone);
5. a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law;
6. a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on the owner's behalf.

We will remove or disable access to material that is the subject of a valid notice and will, where appropriate, notify the affected user, who may submit a counter-notification. We may terminate the accounts of repeat infringers.

6. Cooperation with Law Enforcement

We may preserve and disclose information — including account and content data — where we believe in good faith that doing so is required by law, court order, or a lawful government request, or is reasonably necessary to detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, illegal activity, or a threat to the safety of any person. This complements the disclosure terms in our Privacy Policy. Where content is removed or an account is terminated for a serious violation, we may retain related records for a reasonable period to comply with legal obligations or to assist a lawful investigation, notwithstanding our ordinary deletion timelines.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated revision date, and continued use of Doclio after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
